OPEN DOOR International, Inc. is very excited to offer Family Preservation Services to the children and families who have come to the attention of Berks County Children and Youth Services. This quick response and intensive daily intervention 30-day program is designed to prevent out of home placement of children and to restore health to referred families.

OPEN DOOR will conduct a thorough family assessment and use the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS) for both demonstrating family strengths and identifying areas requiring intervention. The NCFAS will also be used to provide evidence based outcome performance data.

The Family Service Plan is developed with all family members to provide direction towards resolution of the reasons for the original referral. In some cases, a reauthorization for additional 30-days of aftercare may be made.

Intervention may include crisis intervention for family stability, casework counseling, case management and case coordination with other providers, transportation, Family Group Decision Making type strategies with extended family and other support system persons and other pragmatic approaches appropriate for this level of service.

Since OPEN DOOR has traditionally served the Hispanic population, bilingual caseworkers will be available.

OPEN DOOR continues to be interested in interviewing prospective MSW or experienced BSW professionals to join us in this making this program successful. LCSW clinical supervision is available. Please contact the executive director and submit your employment resume to: jcintron@opendoorintl.com of by fax to: 610-372-8660.
